Why watch Operation Mincemeat: A New Musical?

    • Operation Mincemeat is a fast-paced, farcical, and fantastical true story about the twisted covert operation that won World War II. The Nazis are no match for a dapper corpse!
    •  The production is directed by Robert Hastie and Jenny Arnold, both Olivier Award nominees, and promises a brand-new approach to wartime storytelling. It’s a tactical soap opera, where truth is way stranger than fiction.
    • Operation Mincemeat received 74 five-star reviews and won the 2024 Olivier Award for Best New Musical, making it "the best-reviewed show in West End history."
    •  The production expertly combines aspects of comedy and espionage, with the outstanding talents of the original London cast, including David Cumming, Natasha Hodgson, Zoë Roberts, Felix Hagan, and Jak Malone.
    • The year is 1943. The war effort looks bleak. However, there’s a secret weapon up the Allies’ sleeves. They have a stolen body. Catch the newest Broadway show that blends Singin' in the Rain and Strangers on a Train now!

Set in 1943, Operation Mincemeat is the outrageously unlikely and hilarious real tale of a secret operation that changed the course of World War II. The musical Operation Mincemeat shares a plot with the 2021 John Madden film or the 2010 Ben Macintyre nonfiction book of the same name. But don’t be mistaken. This show puts a whole new spin on the simple narrative of its predecessors, and emerges as a wartime romp that will make you bust your sides laughing.

The musical, which is equal parts humor, thriller, and Ian Fleming-style espionage caper (with assistance from Mr. Fleming himself), conveys the spirit of wartime ingenuity. Book your tickets to see the extreme measures used to guarantee V-day.

    Storyline

Amid World War II, British intelligence officers conceive of an outrageous plan to deceive the Axis powers about the Allies' invasion strategy. By dressing a corpse as a British major and planting falsified documents on it, they aim to pull the wool over enemy eyes and alter the course of the war. Will this ridiculous escapade work? We did win the war, but that’s no confirmation yet! Book your tickets to find out the real life consequences of truly committing to the bit.
