We went right in the morning at 8, and got in line about 7:30 to ensure we'd be there before major crowds and the sun, and super glad we did! We spent about an hour and enjoyed looking at all the ruins.

We purchased tickets in advance online and arrived shortly before our scheduled entry time. We waited for a short time to be allowed to enter (maybe 10 minutes). It was somewhat crowded at 5 pm, but the crowds were easy to navigate with and through. It did not affect our enjoyment. The site is amazing to see in person! You can see te entire city. Of Athens and surrounding areas out to the sea. We visited in mid June and it gets SUPER hot so prehydrate and everyone take water. There are spots you can sit and take rest breaks in a bit of shade.

The Acropolis itself is spectacular, it is a millenary place and incredible! It would be very useful the audio guide to learn and understand where you are and what is what but it was good the tickets with no line and no problem to redeem them. The tourist bus is good for people who dedicate the time we had no problem using it but we did not have time so next time I do not buy it because I did not use it. To improve the location of the stops in piraeus and glyfada, we could never find them.

Good atmosphere, from the audience. It would be nice if there were a few more information boards. The kiosk wanted €7.50 for a pack of pringels which is extortionate. The general prices were very high, but this exceeded that.

The package is worth it, especially because it includes the entrance to the Acropolis and watching the sunset at the temple of Poseidon is beautiful. What I think is confusing is the beginning of the tour. We waited at the appointed place 15 minutes before our time and no one showed up. Then we went to exchange tickets and entered the Acropolis but we missed the first part of the tour.

The pick-up points were clear, uncluttered and precise, so there was nothing to report on that score. The sites we visited were magnificent and well worth the detour - and the weather was just right too 😍. The only negative point was the temple of Poseidon at Cape Sounion. We had the (less pleasant) surprise to discover, once there, that we had to add €20 from our own pocket to gain access to the site. This point should be mentioned more clearly in the advert! Having said that, our guide was adorable, which helped us get over the hump 😊. In conclusion: a great day out, definitely worth doing again! But the details regarding entrance fees really should be better specified, for example: "Tickets for the temple of Poseidon are not included." Thank you for a memorable experience.

We arrived just before 8am and were a little disappointed that there was already a huge queue. However once the gates opened at 8, the pre-ordered QR codes were read really quickly and everybody got through the gates very efficiently. By the time we left there were a lot of people coming in, many from cruise ships so earlier was definitely better.

The highlight of my visit was how big and well preserved it is. If it is true that they let a lot of people pass and you do not enjoy it with the place deserves, it had to be more limited capacity.

It was even more impressive than we could have anticipated. Of course it was crowded, but not to the extern that you couldn't take pictures without herds of people in it. The uphill walk wasn't too bad, and the cleanliness of the surroundings stood out.

Visit to the Acropolis without any problems. Trip to Cape Sunio for the Temple of Poseidon very well organized, audio guide in Italian interesting and well detailed along the way. Staff efficient and knowledgeable. Perhaps the price of the ticket to see the Temple could be included in the package, it would be a useful element of clarity.

Rightly priced and a good tour of the city on hop on buses. The bus to the coast was hourly and the stops were not marked, waited long to get a bus ack to city after a visit to the coast. Acropolis visit was as expected, quite busy with a big crowd waiting to enter. Overall enjoyed the trip. As we brought the tickets online we did not get a headphone to hear the commentary on the bus which was less satisfactory.

The tour of the Acropolis and Parthenon was excellent—informative, well-paced, and rich in history. Our guide was knowledgeable and engaging, making the experience even more enjoyable. The only downside was that the hearing devices didn’t work properly during the tour, which made it difficult at times to catch everything being said, especially in a larger group. Yhe Temple of Poseidon was amazing and the trip was worth it.

This one the worst tours I have been on. The guide, although nice, provided almost no information during the tour. The entire time she just spent saying "this is a narrow road, but an important road" or this was an "important person", or "this is a quiet spot but an important spot". More so on the bus tour portion all she pointed out where the hotels. She barely maentioned what things where and when she did point them out she gave no explanation. Listening to other guides in the Acropolis they were sharing really interesting information whether on the history, the architecture, the culture, none of which were covered by our guide. It was not only disappointing but extremely frustrating knowing I was wasting my time and my only opportunity to visit this site. Using google would have frankly been significantly more informative. Honestly I would want my money back.

I booked online from home, so had some doubts. However, we were picked up on time and had a fantastic day. Kostas clearly knows his history and was the best guide I've ever experienced. The Parthenon and museum were totally amazing. We had our lunch included as we booked the full day. The food was good and plenty of it. We then travelled to Soulion, which was a long trip on the bus which was a bit of a drain. Purely due to the distance and time. The route was beautiful and the coach lovely and cool. The review may sound made up, but we found the whole day excellent. Totally amazeballs. Find a bot that will write that.

Our guide Katarina was incrdible. "Mama" as she told us to call her, was so knowledgeable and fun. She provided a ton of back story and I learned so much during the tour. While she incorporated her viewpoints into the tour, it never felt biased or unwarranted, so it was the perfect balance of facts and perspective from a Greek person. She tapped into her mothering skills to start managing peopel around us, in order to ensure our group was not affected by execssive queues and nonsense. I would definitely take another tour with her.

The tour that we had booked stated that entry to the temple was included, but when we arrived we were told we had to pay an extra 20EURO to enter the temple. When we challenged the tour guide, he clearly knew of the issue and advised that this was a "misunderstanding" on the inclusion list. This was highly frustrating for us and in the end we felt we had been taken to the location under the false pretence of included temple entry. In the end we reluctanctly paid for entry as it was a one of visit that we woudlnt repeat, but we felt almost "held captive" by the location. The bus ride and the temple were good though, but we felt bad for the tour guide as he was under pressure from lots of our group as a result of the "misunderstood" listing, and has clearly faced this issue in the past as his response was well rehearsed.

Excellent service and bus trip and the sunset is awesome. Only bad but is the cafe there, which isn't the organisers' fault, but the food is not great and the service is terrible.

The overall experience was good and worth the amount spent. Cape Sunion was beautiful during the Sunset. Actually the road to Cape Sunion has picturesque view. The temple of Poseidon is mostly in ruins and pretty similar though much smaller than what you see in Acropolis or Parthenon. But the surroundings are beautiful.

First of all I'd like to thank our guide. He was very well organised and super nice and communicative - it was effortless on my part to board the right bus in Omonia and find the right bus for the trip back to Athens. Travel to destination was very comfortable (bus was clean and had AC) and picturesque with lovely coastal scenery. We arrived at the Temple of Poseidon with plenty of time to get around and we stayed there long enough for all the essentials: 1) getting superb pictures; 2) enjoying the location; 3) dining al fresco at local restaurant (very nice menu, service and clean facilities). All in all, awesome experience I will remember for years to come. Highly recommended!

It was a really magic experience. The guide was really funny and she explained both historical facts and curiosities about the places we visited but also about Athens. We stopped firstly at the oldest preserved theatre in the world and the guide gave us some time to explore the area and took some pictures. Then we went to Capo Sunion where there's Poseidon's Temple. That was such a magical place, overlooking the sea. We spent here an hour and then with the bus they took us back to Syntagma. The place was really beautiful and suggestive. I think that was totally worthy, perhaps the best thing I saw during my trip to Athens.

Opening hours - Cape Sounion and Temple of Poseidon Tickets

  • April, May, September, and October, the spring and autumn seasons, are the best months to visit Cape Sounion. The sunny skies and gentle breezes allow you to spend more time exploring the Temple of Poseidon ruins without risking heatstroke.
  • Weekdays see a lesser footfall of visitors than weekends. It’s best to arrive at the site by afternoon and stay until after 5:30pm to catch stunning sunset views over the Aegean Sea.
Temple of Poseidon & Cape Sounio Tickets

There is one entrance to the archaeological site of Cape Sounion, located at the base of the cliff. Once inside, you can take the path up the hill leading to the temple ruins. It takes about 30 to 45 minutes to get to the top.

Temple of Poseidon & Cape Sounio Tickets
  • The path from the entrance to the top of the hill is a bit steep and has steps and ramps in certain sections. Wheelchair users might need assistance to navigate the route. A viewing platform up the path is easier to access, from where you get good views of the temple.
  • Visitors who use walking aids but are not wheelchair-bound can navigate the path with the help of handrails and armrests. There are also benches at frequent intervals to pause for breaks along the path.
  • Visitors with infants or toddlers can bring their strollers to the top of the hill.
Temple of Poseidon & Cape Sounio Tickets
  • Visitor center: You can visit the visitor information center at the bottom of the hill, near the entrance gate, for details about comfortable transfers, bus routes, opening hours, and other information.
  • Restrooms: There are washroom facilities for visitors at the information center or at the cafe at the bottom of the hill.
  • Shopping: You will find a souvenir shop at the bottom of the hill, near the visitor center, where you can buy accessories and souvenirs.
Temple of Poseidon & Cape Sounio - Rules

  • When you arrive at Cape Sounion, use the restrooms before taking the path up to the Temple of Poseidon. It takes about 30-45 minutes to climb up, and there are no restrooms on top of the hill.
  • Avoid bringing suitcases or large backpacks as there are no cloakrooms or storage facilities at the Temple of Poseidon to keep your belongings.
  • While exploring, stay on the designated pathways that have been marked to protect the temple ruins and ensure visitors’ safety.
  • It can get windy at the top of the hill, so it’s best to carry a scarf or a light jacket even in the summer.
  • Check the weather forecast for the day you plan to visit. Fog or rain will obstruct the views from Cape Sounion.
