The fast track tickets were wonderful to have! The Orsay was so very crowded that without them we would have been in line for hours. We chose not to use the audio guide we purchased. Again crowd size limited our ability to stop, look and listen. In the future I will book sooner and get a tour guide. Thanks to head out- the only one to get us last minute tickets into the Orsay !

The best part was seeing the Done Church and Napoleon's tomb. We didn't realise you didn't have to book the Army museum to see this church. The army museum was ok but we found it a bit boring not being part of our history.

I had already visited the museum in 1992. I remembered it vaguely, very endearing, I remember that the "Pere Tanguy" was hanging on a wall of the staircase. Now with the remodeling works and the acquisition of new sculptures acquisition of new sculptures, it has become wonderfully beautiful. A must for lovers of sculpture and especially those of Rodin. Ah, impressive the amount of pieces that can be seen, both inside and in the garden. You can not miss it!

We loved seeing how Rodin worked over the separate elements of his pieces, before arriving at a final pose, expression, or grouping. For example, it was as if we could glimpse his creative process as he worked toward his final bronze of the Burghers of Calais. Brilliant!

Why Visit Rodin Museum

If there is one city you can fall in love with over and over again, it’s Paris. Located on the banks of the River Seine, the French Capital screams fashion, food, and art. For a city undergoing a creative renewal, it can never fail you with its endless lists of museums, or art galleries to explore. Rodin Museum in the heart of Paris, is one of the many options that offer a unique experience to explore modern artworks. Grab your Rodin Museum tickets to see sculptures by Auguste Rodin.

Rodin Museum tickets
  • Rodin Museum is dedicated to the works of the French sculptor, Francois Auguste Rodin. He transgressed existing art practices, and set new boundaries of art style, subject, and form.
  • He paved the way for the art of the twentieth century. His sculptural finesse is noticeable in the original large-scale bronze and marble creations on display at the museum.
  • Whether you’re an art aficionado or a newbie on a quest to learn about art, Rodin Museum Paris offers the ultimate experience.
  • Steal a moment or two in the museum admiring his oeuvre of works like The Kiss, The Walking Man, The Sensual Body, The Gates of Hell, The Age Of Bronze, and more. Let his art inspire.

Who is Auguste Rodin?

Francois Auguste Rene Rodin (1849 - 1917) was a French sculptor and the founder of modern sculpture. He had a unique ability to mould and model complex surfaces in clay. He faced criticism for his creations. His work didn’t reflect the established tastes of the art world that was inclined to decorative traditions and traditional themes (mythology and allegory). Rodin instead adopted a new approach to the practice of sculpture. He celebrated naturalism, individual characters, and masculine and feminine physicality.

Michelangelo, the Italian Renaissance artist, inspired Rodin’s works. You can see this in his sculptures like Adam and The Bronze Age at the museum. Sculptures to keep an eye for at Rodin sculpture garden Paris include The Thinker, Monument to Balzac, The Kiss, and The Gates of Hell.

 Rodin Museum Layout

Rodin Museum stands today because the artist donated his artworks to the French State. Rodin himself chose the site for the Rodin Museum. Let’s take a closer look at what you can expect in the two main areas- Sculpture Garden and Hotel Biron.

  • Sculpture Garden: Experience the harmony of sculptures with nature at Rodin Sculpture Garden. Enjoy the best works of Rodin like The Thinker and The Gates of Hell in this natural landscape. Here you'll find flowers blooming throughout the year. Roses in winter, viburnum in February, and forsythia and ceanothus in March. The garden is also an ideal spot to just enjoy a calm moment.
  • Hotel Biron: Hotel Biron is an eighteenth-century mansion. It is home to the permanent collections of the French sculptor. Eighteen rooms display clay sketches, plaster casts and bronze, and marble sculptures. Through some of his early career works on display, you can follow Rodin’s artistic evolutions. Some pieces earned him the reputation as the first of the ‘moderns’.

What to See at Rodin Museum

Rodin Museum tickets

Paintings

Grab the chance to see the paintings by Claude Monet and Vincent Van Gogh at Rodin Museum. Monet’s Belle-Île became a part of Rodin’s private collection when the two friends exchanged their works in 1888. It is unclear if Rodin purchased Van Gogh’s Pere Tanguy in 1894 because Van Gogh and he shared a love of Japanese art.

Rodin Museum tickets

Drawings

Auguste Rodin's drawings collections include extreme body positions, featuring mainly feminine figures. His subjects were dancers, music hall artists, or circus performers. His drawings reflect the use of watercolors in soft tones. Works in the collection include Battle between a man and a reptile and Two semi-reclining female nudes.

Rodin Museum tickets

Antiques

This is a private collection of artworks Rodin purchased from art dealers. Some of these works reminded Rodin of other well-known works and some left an impression on him. This collection includes the Headless Figure of Hercules, Statue of King Ptolemy III Euergetes I, Fragment of a stela: family group with a seated woman, etc.

Rodin Museum tickets

Sculptures

Soft focus, sensuality, human emotions, imitation, assemblage, cutting-out, and pasting are themes central to Rodin's works. His oeuvres like The Thinker, The Kiss, The Tower of Work, The Walking Man, The Age of Bronze, The Gates Of Hell, Hylas and the Nymphs, and Adam, which are reflective of the themes, add richness and diversity to the collections of the Rodin Museum.

Rodin Museum tickets

Photographs

Rodin used photography to judge his works and make amends. This is visible in the Young Girl embraced by a Marble Ghost, where he retouched the photo taken by Eugène Druet. The collection also includes photographs titled The Awakening by Edward Steichen, St John the Baptist, Man with a Broken Nose and the Bust of Bellone by Charles Michelez, and The portrait of Camille Claudel by Cesar.

Rodin Museum tickets

Camille Claudel Room

Camille Claudel was a young artist, who was Rodin’s pupil and later his mistress and muse. The pupil and master bonded over their love for sculpture. Her technical prowess and fluidity of form are seen in her sculptures titled Portrait of Rodin, The Gossips or Women Chatting, The Waltz, etc.

The Rodin Museum was wonderful, not only for the magnificent art but also the fact that it was not so crowded. You could really enjoy the exhibits. The gardens were peaceful and the café was a perfect spot to sit and savor the beauty.

Rodin museum is A+. His understanding of anatomy is astounding as is his ability to express emotion...from bronze and marble!! Garden is nothing less than exquisite. Picasso museum is also a great choice. Head out made booking very easy and quick with valuable combination visits of 2 sites.

The turbo pass is worthwhile for anyone who wants to get as much history as possible in Pais. You should prepare well, because most attractions still have to be reserved in advance. Clear homepage and good price performance.

The Turbopass is not just called that, it says it all. You don't have to wait long at attractions or sights where others queue for hours. Instead, you walk past the queues in a relaxed manner (in turbo mode). I can only recommend the Turbopass to everyone.
