The Rome Pantheon is a mammoth relic of ancient Rome, once a temple that's now a church. Besides its iconic dome, what draws visitors from world over are its marble interiors, ornate altars and tombs of famous figures including the artist Raphael.

How to access the Pantheon entrance?

Metro: Take the Metro line A and get off at Barberini station. The entrance is about a 15-minute walk away.
Bus: Buses 30, 40, 62, 64, 81, 87 and 492 all stop at Largo di Torre Argentina, which is the closest stop to the Pantheon. The entry is just a 5-minute walk away from there.

How to enter the Pantheon in Rome

There is only one main entry to the Rome Pantheon. However, there are 3 separate tourist queues, with each line denoting a particular ticket type.

Queue 1

On the extreme left is the queue for those tourists who are looking to pay for their tickets in cash. These are one of the longer queues since people are buying on-spot, and during peak season (June to September), lines can get incredibly long, with wait times going up to even an hour.

Queue 2

Touted as the best queue (and for good reason), this line is meant for those visitors who have their tickets in advance. They simply have to show their tickets and voila! entry is guaranteed in just a few minutes, peak season or not. If you've booked online, simply scan your QR code at the desk. Say goodbye to standing in endless lines under the hot Roman sun with your pre-booked tickets.

Note: Pre-booked ticket holders must collect their tickets at the bookshop to the right of the portico of the Basilica of San Lorenzo di Lucina, if they choose to display paper tickets. This basilica is only an 8-minute walk from the Pantheon.

Queue 3

This queue is exclusively meant for those choosing to purchase on-spot tickets and pay by card. Similar to the cash-only queue, this line can also get really long during peak season. However, the card queue often moves faster than the cash queue, though nothing tops the pre-booked queue. So choose your queue wisely!

Which Rome Pantheon entrance queue should I choose?

If you'd like to pay in cash only, opt for the first queue (the left-most line) to book your tickets.
If you have already booked your tickets online or purchased them in advance, stand in the middle queue. This queue moves the fastest. This queue is also meant for you if you've booked Rome Pantheon guided tours, skip-the-line tours, audio guide tours, etc.
If you're choosing to pay by card, take the third queue (the right-most line). This queue, like the cash-only one, can take much longer, exceeding even 30 minutes or more during peak season.

Disabled access

Entry is free for visitors with disabilities, so there is no need to wait at any queue while entering the Rome Pantheon. Besides, there are ramps and walkways at the entrance to facilitate wheelchair access.
