It reminded me of when I was a child. Everything was perfect even though the animals in cages put some sadness in them. I was struck by the eyes of a monkey that seemed to say, look where are they? As long as they are treated well and with love!

What to See at Bioparco?

White Rhinos

Spread across an area of 2600 sq m, you will find a large circular enclosure with an African savannah setting with plants of South African origin. Watch the white rhinos living in their natural habitat, and learn more about the animal through the interactive installations in place.

Cape Penguins

The dry and bright atmosphere of South African beaches has been recreated in this 400 sq m space. With natural rocks and a blend of plants and gravel from South Africa, and a large tank where they can dive and swim, spectators can witness Cape Penguins in all their glory.

Sumatran Tigers

Spread across a massive 1000 sq m, this area features an internal shelter and chestnut trunks, bamboos, a lawn and a tank where the felines can take a swim. This subspecies is at very high risk of extinction and the Bioparco is the only Italian structure to host this feline.

The Owl Area

The section houses Royal Owls and the other for Snowy Owls. The exhibit is divided into two areas of approximately 36 sq m each for the two species. They can be observed without any disturbance through a large window. View the blow-up of an eagle owl in flight at the entrance.

The Orangutan Area

Featuring a vast outdoor area of 320 sq m, the Orangutan area features trees, trunks, ropes and wooden platforms so they can move, rest and place the nest, just like they would in their natural habitat. For guests to view the animals, a large window that’s 15 meters tall is installed.

Komodo Dragons

Meet Ivan and Richard, two 3-year-old Komodo Dragons that live here. The largest and most dangerous lizards in the world, the Komodo Dragon is an endangered species, with only about 3,000 of them surviving in the world currently. The Bioparco is the only Italian zoological park that houses this species.

Smallest Monkeys In The World

The Bioparco is home to Tamarini Imperatore, Tamarini Oedipus, and the Pygmy Uistitì. All three of these primate species belong to the large family of callitrichids, found in Central-South America. These species of monkeys are at serious risk of extinction.

The Reptile House

The Bioparco Reptile House serves as a conservation center for reptiles, invertebrates, and amphibians. Its mission is to make visitors aware of the illegal trade issues plaguing these creatures. 98% of the animals here come from kidnappings and confiscations by the police.

The Great Aviary

The Bioparco Great Aviary has a unique geodesic shape, which allows even the largest birds to fly for a long time without stopping, giving visitors a spectacular experience. You will find White Pelican, the Sultan Chicken, the African Spoonbill, the White Stork, and the Crowned Crane, among other birds, here.

Valley Of The Bears

A beautiful outdoor area that stretches quite far and features a stunning waterfall and a gentle stream that leads to a large pool, the Valley of the Bears is a highlight of BioParco Rome. Visitors can observe the bears swimming through two large windows that allow an underwater view.

The Chimpanzee Village

An exhibit of more than 2450 sq m, it has been created drawing inspiration from the amphitheater model. A waterfall, small stream, landscaping with natural tree trunks, platforms, lianas, and ropes, have all been carefully placed to recreate an environment best suited for Chimpanzees.

Ring-tailed Lemurs

The exhibit is dedicated to the prosimians of Madagascar, usually characterized by its black and white ringed tail. Lemurs face threats due to habitat loss and degradation, poaching for meat. and leather and illegal trade. You can also learn more about conserving the forests of Madagascar at this exhibit.

The House Of Giraffes

Originally constructed in 1926, the exhibit has a unique Moorish style. In 2002, the green metal dome was restored and technologically adapted. The renovation of the exhibit is considered as one of the most important works of recovering the original architecture of the Bioparco.

The Oasis Of The Lake

The Oasis of the Lake features an artificial lake, a picnic area, and an outdoor play area. Other highlights include a large conservation ark, a semi-circular amphitheater, and two multifunctional structures: the Penguin Theater and the Cappello del Prete.

Asiatic Lions

The public can approach the Asiatic lions and observe them through two large 45 mm thick windows inserted between the rocks of the fence. The proximity at which you can observe them makes for a thrilling experience. The exhibit is completed by interactive didactic panels.

California Sea Lions

A pair of sea lions live in a deep and wide tank, equipped with a modern filtration system, which was once occupied by polar bears. A large didactic section dedicated to biology and raising awareness of threats to marine ecosystems has also been put in place.
