The guided tour was well worth the price. Laura and Romel were excellent guides and really made the experience enjoyable. I gave it 4 out of 5 stars only because I expected a bit more from the Pompeii portion of the tour. That said, the overall experience was fabulous! The Amalfi Coast was absolutely stunning, and Laura even gave us small gifts and helpful tips on places to visit. A memorable and well-organized tour!

  • A Rome to Amalfi Coast day tour typically lasts 12 to 15 hours, with early morning departures that let you make the most of your time along the coast. • The journey from Rome to the Amalfi Coast takes approximately 3.5 hours one way, offering beautiful coastal views and glimpses of charming Italian villages along the route. • If you’re looking for a more intimate experience, consider a semi-private tour with smaller groups and personalized attention from your guide. This setup allows for a more tailored experience, with extra time to ask questions and explore at a relaxed pace.

  • Elevate your Amalfi Coast experience with customizable options, such as a scenic cruise along the coast, which allows you to take in breathtaking views of the cliffs, coves, and colorful villages that line the shore. You could even get a chance to taste the famous limoncello!

Make the most of your day trip from Rome to the Amalfi Coast

  • The best seasons to enjoy a day trip to the Amalfi Coast are September to October and April to May. The days are bright and warm, featuring minimal rain and fewer crowds.
  • Visiting in November and December involves fewer crowds but it is also off-season, which means that certain services like ferries will not be available.
  • If you aim to hike the Path of the Gods trail, it’s best to start early in the morning. The route from Praiano to Positano is 5 miles long, and considered challenging due to the steep ascents and descents from both towns.

  • Pack light but essential: Bring only what you need, such as water, snacks, a power bank, and a small first-aid kit, but keep your bag light.
  • Budget for lunch: Leave space in your budget for lunch and shopping, as numerous restaurants and souvenir stores line the seafront villages of the Amalfi Coast.
  • Off-season travelers: Ensure you plan for alternative transport options, since ferry services only run from April until the end of October or beginning of November.
  • Prepare for connectivity issues: Network coverage along the Amalfi Coast tends to be patchy. To prepare, you can download offline maps and check for free Wi-Fi at some restaurants and towns, like Maiori.
  • Engage with the locals: A kind and respectful conversation can go a long way, especially when it comes to discovering niche spots along the Amalfi Coast.
  • Be flexible: Have a plan, but be open to spontaneous changes based on discoveries or recommendations. That’s what makes guided day trips with transfers a great option!
