Cinecitta Si Mostra Highlights

A visit to Cinecitta Si Mostra promises a whole lot of excitement, particularly for cinephiles and those interested in the craft of filmmaking. Here are some of the Cinecitta Si Mostra highlights:

Shooting in Cinecittà

Shooting at Cinecittà delves into the making of some of the most famous films in cinema history, as well as the legend of Cinecittà. A set has been erected inside the Palazzo Presidenziale to allow visitors to immerse themselves in the history of famous movies and film genres, hear stories, and learn amusing facts through a variety of photos, videos, interviews and authentic costumes.

Backstage

With six rooms dedicated to film direction, screenplay, sound editing, costuming, and visual effects, Backstage gives visitors an insight into the many cinema disciplines. The Director's Room, Script Room, Sound Room, Costume Room, Fiction Room, and Green Screen Room are the rooms included in this exhibition. The exhibition is enhanced by a temporary display of costumes from Federico Fellini's flicks The Clowns, and Federico Fellini's Casanova.

Submarine S-33

The Submarine exhibition path makes way to the American submarine S-33 set, which was built for Jonathan Mostow's film U-571. The film depicts a World War II incident in which the US Navy sought to capture the German submarine U-571 in April 1942. The walk comes to an end outside the LED gallery, which provides a comprehensive view of Cinecittà Studios through the figures that have made the Studios a legendary destination during its 80-year history.

Felliniana

Felliniana is the newest permanent exhibition route, designed by Dante Ferretti, an Academy Award-winning production designer and one of Federico Fellini's visionary architects. The exhibition installation, which is housed in the historic Palazzina Fellini, allows visitors to immerse themselves in a universe created by Fellini's imagination, resulting in a little city within Cinecittà, a physical and dreamy setting.

Ancient Rome

The Ancient Rome set, which was erected for the HBO TV series Rome, is one of Cinecittà's largest, covering about ten acres. It depicts the Roman Forum's ancient civil and religious structures. Wooden panels and fiberglass plates cover the supporting structures. A brilliant colour palette distinguishes the colossal set: the bold tones of red, blue, and green, as well as the vibrant décor, allowing visitors to imagine what the now-whitened remains looked like during the Roman Republic.

Temple Of Jerusalem

The Temple of Jerusalem set was created by Francesco Frigeri – best known for his work on Mel Gibson's The Passion of the Christ. The designer did not take a strictly linguistic approach to create the Temple, instead opting for wider artistic control, integrating many styles, inspirations, and architecture, and taking inspiration from Babylonian, Assyrian, and Northern Yemenite edifices.

Florence in 1400

The Florence in 1400 set was created by production designer Marco Dentici in 2002 for the TV series Francesco, directed by Michele Soavi. The set has been updated and renovated over the years, serving as a backdrop for a variety of locales and eras, including Francesca Comencini's Netflix TV series ‘La luna nera.’

Cinebimbicittà

Il Cinebimbicittà is a film workshop for children aged 5 to 12. It's a programme that allows families to enjoy a visit to the Studios and exhibitions while the kids are comfortable and engaged in the workshop. Every Sunday, Cinebimbicittà hosts a range of activities, including seminars, special events, participatory visits, and activities for both children and adults.
