The overwhelming sense of scale; it is a miracle that such a building still exists after more than 2000 years. I was impressed not only by the design, but also by the skill and execution of the architecture.

All was good. A bit windy in those passages, but very impressive!

A quick and efficient entry. Not too crowded this time of year... great 🇮🇹

Just seeing it with the naked eye. Mind blowing Your guide bought it all to life
The tour of the Colissé is superb, and the audio guide very comprehensive. The commentary is a little fast. The Palatine Hill has many places and monuments to see. We'll have to go back again. The audio-guide is a great switch, even if you sometimes lose track of whether you're in the right place or not. All in all, a very nice, essential visit to Rome. With Headout everything worked well. Thank you very much.

Practical, reliable, easy to use But you could improve it by adding a geolocation feature to the audioguide. Indeed, especially at the palace, it's hard to find your way around, especially at the beginning... too bad!
View original review in French
The best thing is the time available for the visit, although the audio guide was not useful, it did not have a logical order, it was difficult to discriminate where you were physically versus the app but at least you had time to discover it.

We arrived a bit earlier at the Colloseum and there was no big queue at the entrance. We needed to wait for 5 more minutes and we then went in straightaway. No hassle, the security was fast and we could enjoy the arena and other levels of the Colloseum. It was amazing and we could take our time to take many pictures. Then We went over to the Palatine Hill and Forum Romanum, There was no one there and we headed straight in. All the tickets we purchase were perfect on the phone and we had no problems going in. The whole area is amazing and being where thousands of years Romans roamed we could walk in their footsteps. We loved the whole day !
Simple and easy to use. I missed a more in-depth / detailed explanation of the points I visited in the colosseum and on the palatine hill, I found it rather superficial.

Everything was magnificent however we didn't realise that the tickets for Roman Forum and Palatine Hill are only for one entry only, cannot go back to it after you enter it.
It was not easy to follow the different points of visit along the tour. It would be appreciated to receive more indications of the location of each visit point described in the audio guide.

Superb tour, interesting and fun. Great guide! Beautiful landscapes, lots of memories! The only downside was that the meeting place was very poorly signposted, so it was a difficult moment.

The best part of our tour of the Colosseum, the Forum, and Palatine Hill was definitely our tour guide. She was knowledgeable and had a great way of delivering her message, even a little joke now and then. The sites are awesome inspiring given their age, construction, and purposes.
I went on a very cozy, private tour with Marle Robinson, with three other tourists. Marle was amazingly knowledgeable, sharing fascinating stories from history throughout the experience. She's very sharp and witty, with a lot of funny jokes to keep us engaged. At the same time, she was very attentive to our needs, making sure we remained hydrated, never strayed too far from each other and had ample time to snap a couple of photos. The tour gave us fast track entry to the venues and we were able to coast through the sites swiftly due to the sheer size of the company. It's very clear that our guide is passionate about the topics covered during the tour, being a practising scholar herself. This tour is highly recommended!
Just seeing if in person was awesome.
Beautiful everything, the guide was very nice and explained everything with luxury and detail is worth it.

We came to Rome for the first time at the end of April and this visit to the Colosseum and the Roman Forum was a must. The tour was incredible from start to finish. It was a first for us to hire a guide, and we have no regrets! Simone is a very interesting guide, with a great sense of humor. We loved it and highly recommend this tour and this guide. Many thanks to her!

Our guide knew a lot and was good at informing, when we could hear what she said. The quality of the sound in the er plugs was poor
Had an absolutely amazing day. Made so by the knowledge and enthusiasm of our guide. It was fantastic to see it but more fantastic to know it.
The tour was Awesome! We had Eliane, a Brazilian historian, she was Pationate and very knowledgeable about history and the details. I was impressed with her knowledge and enthusiasm. You can tell when someone loves what they do and she definitely is a person that loves what she does. Take a hat with you, it was very sunny and we walk a lot during this tour.
The place itself is worth the visit, and certainly with the explanations given by the guides the visits are enriched. The tour was good. What they do need to check, is that in the tour confirmation they specify a place as the meeting point, which in the end is NOT correct (it is the office of a tour operator, which by chance we asked about Headout, and he told us that they always put the meeting point wrong, to which we had to walk a little further to get there...if not, we would have been waiting for hours or even lost the tour).

We had a fantastic guided tour with Diego! Such a great guide, he was excellent and knew so much about both the Colosseum and Rome in general. I was a bit sceptical about taking a tour that is not from the official site, but it was honestly great! The queues were short, so we even got extra guidance through the Roman forum.
The visit was exceptional, not least because of our guide Gil, a passionate and fascinating archaeologist! We learned so much and saw the beauty of ancient Rome.

Tour was originally booked with head out, unfortunately the guide was unable to work so they transferred us to Crown Tour's. They were very professional in their correspondence and provided multiple options including change of date or transfer to another operator. They provided clear instructions via email including new meeting point. On arrival the staff from Crown tours were friendly and professional. Our guide, Damiano was great, very knowledgeable, understanding of the groups needs and fun. The Colosseum was absolutely magnificent.
Had a wonderful tour of the Colosseum, Palatine Hill & Roman Forum with our very knowledgeable guide, Claudia. Her explanations of the history made our experince so much more meaningful than if we had been wandering around on our own. Thank you Claudia!
Beautiful tuor, accompanied by the very prepared and engaging Susanna we discovered, among anecdotes and curiosities, the history of the Colosseum and the Roman Forums. Truly recommended to learn in a few hours part of the history of this wonderful city.

Closseum was impressive, and the Vatican guided tour guide very knowledgeable. Because the guided tour of Colosseum was cancelled the day before, the audio guided substitute did not include skip-the-line for the other two venues included. So we decided to give the other two a miss because of massive queues. Also, we have not received a part refund. The tour of the Vatican state + St Peters was fine, but the tour startet 30 minutes too late (1130 instead of 1100).
Really interesting visit, thank you Susanna for taking us on this tour with all your knowledge and passion.

Our guide, Mirko, was incredibly knowledgeable and really did a great job making sure the group had a great experience. The tour covered a lot of information, and was very enjoyable. There is no way we could have seen as much or appreciated the sights the same way on our own.
Our tour guides were amazing especially the Coliseum. However I would not advise that you try and do both tours in one day it is far too much and such a rush. Awesome experience if you split them over two days. The tour guides are not to blame it is the Headout company which we booked with
The guide was very energetic and enthusiastic, but the tour could have taken a little shorter or more time could have been spend walking around. I appreciate it was very busy at the venue at the time, but there was time that was spend on funny interactive stories that could have been either cut out or spend with more historical facts. Otherwise great tour!
Very important the knowledge of the guide. He took care to explain what was asked. As the only criticism, understandable due to the urgencies, he was a little fast.

An incredible place because you can see up close the engineering with which this important building of the Roman era was built, this unique experience because being in the basement of the Colosseum with a great guide explains and teaches you where the ramps, elevators, drains and your mind "flies" imagining being in that time. Alessandro was a perfect guide. We were a small group of 6 people, which was ideal given the crowds in the Colosseum. Alessandro made the tour very lively, answered each of our questions in detail and even had extra footage on his tablet. He always had the well-being of all participants in mind and guided our group to shady spots for his explanations, organized the floor changes by elevator for my mother and another participant and showed us the best spots for souvenir photos. Many thanks for a great morning, Alessandro!

Our Guide was knowledgeable about Colosseum. She made it fun. Because of her, we got hassle free entry to all the sites and location, we skipped all lines and were the first one to enter into the Colosseum. I would recommend tourists to book all 3 site tours individually because the guide doesn't show you everything in Romun Forum in a combined tour. Do this tour if you don't have enough time or if you are with family/kids.
So much history. Informative guide who knew the history. Would definitely recommend do the underground part of the tour.

The Vatican museums and gardens were stunning, the Sistine Chapel was breathtaking and St Peter's Basilicia was beautiful. Francesca's stories about the art in the Sistine Chapel and Michelangelo's antics were the highlight for me.

The highlight of our visit to th Vatican was going through the holy door, the crowd was not as bad as I thought they would be. Our host was great she took her time explaining and giving us the history behind the painting/structures/rooms. We spent most of our time in St. Peter basilica, we where able to go underground to see the tomb of the pope's. The we did some shopping in the Vatican store, it was a great experience.
Fantastic experience, the guide Susanna immersed us in a fascinating journey through works of art and fantastic places , the excellent explanations of the historical periods and the artists who made them, created a wonderful atmosphere of involvement and attention that we can rarely find in other guided tour experiences . We were all alone with the tour guide, he made it interesting for our 2 kids, 3 and 9 years old.
I really liked being told about the history of the Coliseum from Emperor Nero to how it stands today. The skip the line part was also convenient given the line outside. Our guide was pretty cool and the tidbits that he told throughout helped to connect with the place. Access to Palatine hill which was granted by the ticket was one of my favorite places. Personally I wish the guide had shown some more enthusiasm and amidst all the noise, his speech felt a little too fast at times to understand everything.
Giovanna was truly knowledgeable, kind, funny witty, and lived her visuals and sharp leen ability to catapult our small group back in time.
I didn't like that one day before they changed the schedule I had chosen. The guide was good but they did not respect the one that included headphones, and although there were only 4 of us, it would have been better to have headphones because as there are many people, suddenly the information is lost a little.

This area of Rome is one of my favorites. The last time we were here it didn't require tickets. I was disheartened as the lines were long and the tickets they were selling included the Colosseum which we had already toured. I jumped online and had these tickets on my phone in 5 minutes. It made purchasing the tickets and knowing where to go so much easier. We visited the vatican museum and sistine chapel with no headphones guide (we prefered without) and walked along the path and read up on a few items of interest and spent most of the time being wowed and taking photos. Two we went to are no longer part of it, even though they were listed in the packet.. Glad for the transport option, but couldn't locate the toilets on the map :(
That you have unlimited public transportation but we didn't get tickets for anything but the colosseum, the rest the gallery and so on we didn't see, I don't recommend it.

Our guide, Francesca, was funny and easy to listen to. She brought the history to life with her stories and kept us all interested at what was a very busy time in the Vatican. The Vatican museums and gardens were stunning, the Sistine Chapel was breathtaking and St Peter's Basilicia was beautiful. Francesca's stories about the art in the Sistine Chapel and Michelangelo's antics were the highlight for me.
Our tour of the Vatican museums, Sistine Chapel, and St. Peter's basilica was amazing. The crowds were crazy but our tour guide kept us together and helped us get where we wanted to go. Her information was great and she was entertaining.
The guide was phenomenal !!! So knowledgeable, so invested in the history, and importing that to the group. Her timing, for ingress and egress to specific areas was so beneficial to the whole experience.
What an amazing tour. Natalia our guide was so well spoken and had such a vast knowledge of so much of the roman history, art ,culture and religion. I had my 85 and 86yr old Aunts with me and she was so considerate and kind to them and didn't rush them. It was a fabulous tour. From the book in to the end it was well run and operated very smoothly. Well worth it . It was longer than we thought and a lot of walking so bring small snacks and water!! Thank you crown tours for a wonderful experience .
The guide revealed a wealth of interesting information about Vatican City, the museums, the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's Basilica. It was an unforgettable experience.

I love the entire surreal experience with Vatican Museum,Sistine Chapel and St Peter's Basilica self guided tour. She was an excellent tour guide on everything she talks about. I would highly recommend her and tour company. It was very easy to meet up and how organize it was. Thank you for the wonderful experience. #firsttimeinItaly!!!!
Great visit with guide Paola, we didn't have to hear to get into the museums and we learned so much!

Excellent tour. Crown tours an excellent company sent me reminders days before to confirm and the same day. This is important if you have different tours or activities. Marco the guide gave us an excellent explanation of everything, which reveals his extensive knowledge of art history. I recommend him 100%.

Fred was amazing. Our group was small which was even better. He was super informative without being boring or too lengthy. He moved us through swiftly without rushing and was super joyful.
It was a great success to have booked the guided tour of the Vatican, Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's Basilica with Headout. I did not know you but I trusted the comments and I was right. Alessandro (our guide) was very experienced in getting around the Vatican and very knowledgeable in explaining each part of the Vatican. It is definitely worth your guided tour and I have to say that it is perfect value for money. Thank you.

Very beautiful things to see, with a guide speaking our language was essential, we thank Jad, for this pationnante visit as well as for his humor and kindness. It's a good idea to book your tickets before you leave, given the long queues we saw outside.

The Vatican museums are simply stunning! They are truly worth visiting. We got along very well with Pietro, our guide, who guided us step by step through these wonderful rooms full of masterpieces.

Fantastic experience, the guide Susanna immersed us in a fascinating journey through works of art and fantastic places , the excellent explanations of the historical periods and the artists who made them, created a wonderful atmosphere of involvement and attention that we can rarely find in other guided tour experiences . We highly recommend a visit to the Vatican museums , Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's if you find yourself passing through Rome with this agency and if you then have the opportunity to have Susanna as your guide you will certainly have a wonderful experience as well .

Loved being moved easily to the front of the line. Loved doing the 8am tour because it leaves the rest of the day to relax and grab food. The tour guide was VERY knowledgable about art history and was easily able to answer all of our questions. A memorable morning!
We had a fabulous guide who was friendly, incredibly knowledgeable and approachable. We were informed in good time regarding a change in start time as the original guide was not available. Meeting point was easy to find and just a short walk from the entrance to the Vatican museum. The most expensive tour we booked but definitely worth the money to get the most out of the visit.
The guide Liliane at the Vatican was great and the Colosseum guide was also very good.

We have fantastic time visiting all the places organising everything online was easy and no problem great to be picked up and dropped back to city the attractions were amazing also the scenery and weather which helped the experience too 👍100%
We choose the tour solely because it stated 3 hours in Pompeii. In total the stop was 2 hours and 15 min was gone because the guide had to collect the tickets so we ran around in 1.45 min trying to see some highlights my husband had wanted to see for over 40 years so quite a disappointment.
Nothing. And was incorrect. Three hours in Pompeii was two w/contractor and was 1.5 when we arrived. I paid for priority but operator didn't know what that was. And tour operated waited 45 mins for late people in Sorrento before leaving w/o them. Your operator took half hour more with his tour and with all the lateness we ended up not doing the tasting. Very disappointed after doing so much homework for tour.
Very good organization, bus on time and clean, nice bus driver. One stop each on the way there and back. We had only booked the bus trip with entrance tickets and still got good tips from the tour guide on board, as well as during the trip in English and Spanish. We hired an audio guide on site for 10 euros and off we went. About 3.5 hours on site!

Highly recommend this tour! The bus ride to and from was smooth and the staff are very kind. Samuel was the leader for my bus/tour and he was amazing. Stopped at a giftshop/cafe when we left Rome and on or way back. Very friendly and helpful. I got stuck in the store in Pompeii when we were supposed to leave and he went back to the site just to get me so I could find the bus and not be left! We had about four hours of time to walk around (I did not do a tour guide, I walked around freely) and I didn't see everything but it is a huge city so it's not a big deal. Very good experience and zero complaints!
Plenty of time to explore the site... We hadn't booked lunch or an audioguide, but it was flexible and we could add those extras on the day. Our guide was so friendly and helpful. We loved it!

The title of the excursions leads one to understand that they shall walk from Navona to Trevi underground. In effect it is just a small part of excavated land with historic boards explaining facts. I could have stayed home and gone through all that information over the Internet. A good part of the excavated part may be seen for free on the street. Moreover, one of the ladies at the reception of the site was very unfriendly, abrupt and unhelpful. Far too expensive for what is actually offered!!! Feeling very cheated.

Tickets felt a bit sketchy because we arrived before they were open, but as soon as they showed up everything was great and didn't feel sketchy at all! Took us right to the front of the line! Awesome. Would recommend them to anyone.
Once inside the Pantheon is a marvellous site with glorious artwork. Our only difficulty was tracking down our host. Their street address did not appear on Googke Maps. Thankfully they were a very obliging team, when we found them.
I wanted to go in to the Pantheon at 5:15pm on 9th of April. I did not have ticket and the Line was very long. I bought the ticket in your Site and I had to go to the office to the next Street to get my entrance ticket. It was very easy and fast to buy. At 17:45 I went in to the Pantheon. I skipped the Line and stayed in more than 50 minutes. Thank you. Pölcz Ildikó from Hungary
Very timely to have paid these fast track tickets without queue because the line was endless and slow. So it is very good option; once inside you can buy the audio guide (10 euros x 1 person or 15 euros for 2 people); so you make an exceptional experience. The pantheon is spectacular!

Walked up with our tickets and walked in. No problems or delays. The Pantheon is awesome. Roof is amazing as so old and yet so complete. Hard to imagine just how old it is. Decorations within the building impressive too. Spare a moment to admire the entrance doors too! People within were quiet and respectful which was helpful in maintaining a sense of atmosphere and purpose.
We really liked that we skipped the line. We quickly found where they give out headphones for the audio guide. Very interesting and useful text, we listened to it several times. The Pantheon is amazing. We didn't like that we had to go to the office for a voucher, which we found out about at the last minute. We ran to look for the office along the tangled streets. If we had realized this when we bought the ticket, we would have come for the voucher the day before.
Perfect. Immediate acces and no waiting line (which was extremely long). Scan and go.
The price... no waiting... magnificent

We collected the tickets easy and went our way to the Pantheon by ourselves. There was a long queue. As we had skip the line tickets we went to the front and they let us in. the Pantheon was very impressive, larger than I expected. A great visit.
Even though there were some issues with receiving the tickets I felt like I was being looked after and my anxiousness was not ignored. And the Pantheon was amazing!!!
Purchasing the online ticket was very easy and uncomplicated. Admission took place without a long wait The sight was very impressive and should be seen from the inside at least once

Wow, this was so easy to get tickets, download the app for the audio tour, share the app with my ticketed partner, and get into the Parthnon at the allotted time. The audio tour was clear and informative. Definitely worth the price.
I never went to the Pantheon. My trip in Rome is'nt till May 28, the tickets should have been for May 29th not April. I booked two trips together. One on the 29th and one on May 0th, 2025. I don't know what happened!
We have visited the Pantheon many times over the years, it's still one of the most impressive buildings of the ancient world. The crowds were huge but we were able to enter with no queue at our allotted time.
Our guide Ivan made this experience very good, despite being a large group, he showed a lot of knowledge and explained very well at each stop, even though it was raining that day, it was not an impediment to have had the best tour in the city! Congratulations to Ivan

The Collosseum itself was spectacular as well as the Roman forum and Palatine Hill. The guide was excellent in her knowledge and presentation in such an easy to understand way and covered everything whole keeping her group entertained
Very little waiting time with the tickets bought through Headout. No waiting in the huge line, show up at the scheduled time and go in.
The girl who was waiting for us was on time and in 2 seconds she took us to the door of the Pantheon without queues or waiting. Super friendly and efficient. We will repeat another time for sure. Thank you for everything

It was so easy to book and skipping the line gave fast access to the Pantheon. The lady who escorted me through was very helpful. The Pantheon is stunning. Despite the moderately high number of people there was still a genuine air of reverence, something profoundly missing at the Sistine Chapel. The frescoes, statues and especially the ceiling are amazing and the information boards describing each piece most informative.
At first it wasn't entirely clear which of the rows was the right one. Make sure you ask, otherwise you will be sent away. The fast-track queue was the longest, running right across the square. However, when it opened, it actually moved relatively quickly.

Bus tour was great. We hopped off to get to the Pantheon and discovered Piazza Novano. It's a great way to around the city. If you book the Pantheon tickets remember to go to the Tourist office to claim the actual ticket.
Our host was easy to find and helpful loading the app. The line was intimidating, but moved very quickly. Once inside we were on our own. The audio guide offered a lot of great information. The Pantheon was incredible. It's a must see and this tour was a great way to do it!
The Pantheon is one of Rome's must-see sites. The entrance ticket worked very well, but the hostess from whom we picked up our tickets hadn't given us an audioguide, and once past the entrance to the site we realized that it wasn't after the entrance that we were supposed to pick it up. The tour lacked explanation.

It was very useful to have the tickets in advance and not have to wait in line to buy them. The only thing I didn't like was that I had a little trouble knowing where the meeting point was, and I really wouldn't have needed to because the guy at the meeting point told me that what I had on my cell phone were the tickets.

The museum has some of the best art and sculptures of western civilization and art history. This is a MUST visit place for any Roman history buff. Seeing the pieces in a book is ok but seeing them in person up close is a different experience!
The Capitoline Museum well worth a visit. I would mention that the reserved entry tickets need to be collected offsite at location specified in your confirmation. It's is important to note this as we went directly to the museum and then had to backtrack. Once I found the ticketing location, the service was excellent.
Our guide was excellent. She covered a lot of information, was patient and answered all of our questions, and made sure we saw the historically important and popular sites. Her command of English was excellent and communication was never an issue.
The spaces are extremely impressive for their spaciousness, brightness and richness of content. The compositional scheme and arrangement of the art treasures that make up the museum's holdings are optimal. The museum's exhibition holdings are marvelous for their contents of extraordinary historical-artistic-cultural value, which I did not expect...The venues are well cared for, protected and not crowded (during my experience of visiting on peak tourist days in Rome). I used an audio guide whose texts in Italian are clear and comprehensive and not at all boring. Only a few custodians were unjustifiably abrupt and rude.

The Capitoline Museums should be your first stop when visiting Rome. The exhibits put every other Roman attraction into o perspective. Make sure you see both museums. There's an underground corridor that connects them, on the bottom floor.
I thought the exhibition was excellent. I had no problems with the queue, partly because we were practically the first to enter, having been on time at the scheduled time

For the first time I purchased the Omnia Card and Roma pass package, once you understand where you can book the various museum admissions, the road is all downhill. Very kind at the ORP point where the cards are activated, they gave us great advice.
View original review in Italian
The card is very convenient to have, both for transportation and for some museums the only flaw is that for kids ( despite having purchased an omnia carde roma pass) free transportation is not included. So for my son I had to pay for all transportation...if the price is halved for age it should cmq have the same services as the one for adults

That's definetely not a good deal for my son, and I regret that it was impossible to get access to San Petro without waiting hours (if not the entire day ? This weekend was crazy). Hopefully a warm thank you to your assistance team and especially the kind lady at Latran complex who managed to arrange our entrance at Vatican Museum one hour earlier on saturday - that saved the program (allowed to visit Colosseum at the booked time). Thanks to her !
Very practical "all-in-one" cards. On the other hand, it was difficult to find the office where you could pick up your card; what's more, the first location suggested on the website is no longer valid for this purpose. What's more, the Rome marathon was not signposted and was blocking streets, so we wasted 1/2 a day looking for you... After reception and everything else ok...

Because is one of the new 7 wonders of the world!
It's amazing, loved the atmosphere and it have incredible history. Definitely a must if you're in Rome.

You cannot go to Rome and ignore the Colosseum. It stands big and proud and the history in there just demands to be explored. Yes it can be very busy but there's no pressure to rush round it and there are helpful lifts for people who need assistance.
Amazing technological achievement on an awesome scale. The Colliseum stands out as the must see site of Rome. You need time to view the information cases and experience to arena too.
At the time I booked I conveniently went in skipping the line, I easily found my way there. I recommend booking a guided tour, I did the one with an audio guide and it wasn't bad but with a guide would have been the best

Don't visit Rome on the 1st of May as the crowds could become overwhelming, book a tour in the morning if possible because it can get pretty hot in the middle of the day, double-check public transportation as it can change without notice and eat at smaller restaurants, further away from the city center.

Definately book this tour - it's brilliant. Have a long lunch afterwards! Arrive in plenty time and stick with the group (a couple of ladies arrived late and then lost the group during the tour - despite Ian's VERY best efforts to find them and everyone waiting for them, they were nowhere to be seen - and then later were very angry - unreasonably so!). Otherwise, the group were lovely, and we enjoyed spending time with people from all corners of the world!

We overheard someone say they had in error gone with pass to Colosseum without guide and staff there (forgot?) didn't give back the pass! Anyone of the older generation should perhaps give it a miss but this would be a major shame as like us we are very fit for our ages. Maybe give the tour an extra half hour, then no rush would be necessary.

We were the first tour in the morning meeting at 8:15 before it was too crowded. I'd heartily recommend. We visited in December so dress up warm lots of shady places that can be chilly.
Chloe Griffin

Arrive with enough time, don't expect to be able to go to the gift shop in the Colosseum as there isn't enough time in the tour!

Rome is a walkable city so don't waste your money on a Rome bus card, you can just pay with your phone when you actually use public transport. Every sight is at 20 min walk away from one another so bring your most comfortable shoes. Be ware of pickpockets when waiting in line for something
SUSAN RAE COOK ROWLEY
Nov 2024
Wear very good walking shoes. Wear or bring a hat and sunglasses. We brought snacks and water flasks to stay hydrated and mangage protien/glucose intake throughout the day. The website said 1.5 hours to 3 hours. It was a 7 hour day and 0ver 15,000 steps! We loved every minute but I imagine it could be hard on those not in as good as physical shape or with mobility difficulties.

Most buses will drop you outside the Colosseum, but please check before travelling out.... Good pair of Boots, Plenty of water and lightweight bag for your I.D. (you will need it to get in).

If you're not in walking distance as we were, use the Metro, we used it for a later trip and it was so easy to use and navigate. Be prepared for the crowds and noise, it can be a little overwhelming if you don't really like that, but it does calm down once inside.

We were tempted by the glass lift in the Vittoriano and spent ages finding it only to find you can buy a ticket just for the lift. You have to buy a ticket for the museum as well. I wish now that we had spent more time in the Forum but nothing you see in Rome is wasted. We will just have to visit again!
John Miller
Oct 2024
Tour takes 2.5-3 hours. Go with a guide as the experience and knowledge gained is worth the fee and more. Also get access to the arena floor and upper floor as well as. Tour of the forum. Just amazing. There is quite a bit of walking and stair climbing (lift available).
Antony James Webb
Oct 2024
I would say to make sure you have some water on you and and put lots of sun cream on as the location depending on what time of day it is. It gets very hot and lots of walking involved.

Oct 2024
Try not to carry too many stuff with you, as most of the attractions are very crowded. Arrive at the meeting point/ attractions 20- 30 mins ahead even though you have the admission tickets in hand, as you still have to line up to get into the place.

We walked from our accommodation near historical city centre. Buses are close but will need a bus pass.

Oct 2024
I saw some negative reviews online but l believe these were due to people not following directions properly or showing up late to their appointment time. Everything seemed very organized for our Vatican tour
Stuart John Mansworth
Oct 2024
The Roman Forum and Colosseum were both busy but it was a Friday afternoon so I guess to be expected. The purchasing of the tickets in advance proved to be a wise decision as there were a few queues which we didn't have to join.
David Stanbury
Oct 2024
You will have to queue for a while if you want to climb the dome. You can post a card from the Vatican post office while you're there. Apparently the card will be a surprise. Will find out when I get home. Photos of our passports was accepted in the ID check
Mrs Nicole B Sherman

Don't get anything to eat near Colosseum- it's all overpriced garbage except for Flor- Gelato. Phenomenal gelato for only 3 euro. Recommend the Marscapone and Fig. Maria was a great tour guide. Extremely knowledgeable and truly passionate about her subject matter.
Anthony Bentley
Oct 2024
Arrive earlier than suggested as there were crowds of other tour customers and it wasn't clear who we were supposed to check-in with. Be sure to bring some photo ID with you. You will not be allowed in otherwise. Bring a bottle of water. The tour is long and you can refill your bottle at the many fountains along the way. Go to the toilet beforehand. The queue for them inside were about 35 minutes!
Robert Woods
Oct 2024
Check the weather and dress appropriately. Don't worry if you forget hats or water - the meeting point is a hot spot for traders. Comfortable shoes -you are on you feet for 3 hours. Several flights of steep stone stairs but don't let this put you off, a lift is available.

One thing I was awaiting -reninder mail with instructions 2 days before the tour (if was sent I'm sorry if I missed it).

Be prepared for lots of walking! On hot days make sure you bring water or a cold drink. There are beautiful things to see, take plenty of pictures and finally obey the dress code when visiting out of respect (very important)

Get there early and follow and listen to your guide. Recommend getting this tour due to ease of access between venues (museum and churches), no waiting in line or going outside to go thru another entrance, all access from interior.

Oct 2024
Book a tour for Vatican. Makes the experience so much easier. If possible book an earlier slot. Did the 8:30amandit was already busy but not as much as when we actually got out. Allow enough time to get to your meeting point and even have a coff in the area to limit stress. Prepare for a long day but fantastic day on your feet
Karen Marino
Oct 2024
Get there about 10 minutes earlier than they suggest! There are multiple tours going on, so this was good to keep in mind. I heard going earlier was better, and it was, as it gets VERY hectic later in the day.

Oct 2024
Never again too soon. The train to Rome doesn't work on the 2nd day of October. Workers from municipal transportation Atac made a strike on the 5th. Too many monuments are in restauration in every important touristic spot. In the basilica of St. Peter also. It rains daily. Maybe they want to visit in the summer of 2026.
Angela Sue Maloney

If you struggle to understand the tour guide, make sure to stand near then when they are talking its easier to understand accents in person rather than over the headset.
Dale Adams Flowers
Oct 2024
We were able to walk to the tour start which was very convenient. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable but spoke quickly with a strong accent. We were not able to understand all that he was telling us.

Definitely book a Tour with Headout!!!! Our tour started at 2:30 and worked out fine for us because we flew into Rome from New York City the day before and the jet lag made it difficult to start earlier in the day.

Use the metro it's quick and cheap way to travel. Give yourself time to get to meet point as the metro gets very busy particularly to Vatican City.

Oct 2024
Take a Vatican and Colosseum tour, you will learn so much without having to read all the informational signs. Plus both are big and a guide will save you from wandering lost. Don't get a tour for the pantheon-there is plenty of info to read beforehand online. Get all tickets for as early as you can as crowds increase as the day goes on.

Oct 2024
We went around mid-day when it was warm, I would either go early morning or later in the day when it was cooler. Easy to find the meeting point, would recommend a tour as you get so much detail of the history of Rom and the Colesseum from this.
Allan Apsouris
Oct 2024
We stayed within a KM of the Colloseum, made be walk to the location prior to the tour to understand where you need to be. Give your self time as your trying to follow Google Maps on a phone can lead you in circles.
Allan Apsouris
Oct 2024
I felt like I never really seen the Museum that I was run through it. Make a longer tour so you have time to see things. I looked at something for 30 seconds turned around and the group was gone. I had no idea where they were other than the receiver worked better when I was close to the guide.
Shari Luckhurst
Oct 2024
Plan in advance and don't go the last tour, as you will spend only a short time in the Colleseum. Be prepared for lots of people

We caught a taxi and it was easy to get dropped outside the Vatican wall rather than via Tunisi itself. Allow plenty of time for traffic.

Wear comfortable shoes and cover shoulders and knees. Guide should have some umbrella or other item to find him among the many other guides and visitors. The ear piece and microphone used by the guide were essential. I would always seek out tours which use this technology.

Morning tours are better, lots of people are always there. When finish vatican, we got out just on the front of the St Peter Basilica. No que, all good to go in.

Walking around ancient historic sites is never easy, if anyone has any kind of mild diability, and many visitors are not youthful, so a good descriptor of the tour would be good.
Julie Canavan
Sep 2024
Get you tour at the beginning of the day if you can and book weeks ahead. Or, take a tour for the end of the day and plan to attend Mass at a chapel in St. Peters! Walking shoes that are super airy and supportive as there is alot of shuffling, stairs, and standing; bring several one euros for toilets in gift shops

the pic of location meet isnt that clear and the address wasnt 100% accurate. do arrive early as suggested as there were some road closures and it took us a little bit of extra time to find the Maya Tours location. Going early in the morning is perfect, crowds not too bad. Went on a Wednesday and didn't get into St Peter's at that time because Pope had an audience, but went later, bonus, got to see the Pope.

Our commute from Termini Roma was diabolical as we hadn't planned carefully, didn't have the use of WiFi and spent ages queuing for Metro tickets because we couldn't access the information given by Headout on our phone. Useful tips, have a tourist map of Rome , access to WiFi , pre plan carefully and have travel plans and tickets sorted beforehand
Steven Warner

Was some construction and renovations going on and some roads were closed or diverted so check road conditions first. It also rained extremely hard during our visit even though it wasn't supposed to so be prepared for adverse weather events which can affect the tour.

Despite Vatican guidance to the contrary, small bags are permitted, water is essential and it will still be a bit of a crush to try and stay with your guide.

Do not book 2 different attractions in one day. Because some tours in Rome move the tour schedule because of ticket issues last minute and won't give refund.( anyway its their karma)

If travelling from Rome on a day trip ensure that you leave enough time to get from Naples to Pompeii. You may have to wait a while for your bus or train and you need to factor this in. We had a guided tour which lasted for 2 hours and while that was a tour of the major sites it was still only about half of Pompeii so you may want to leave additional time to get food and see the rest of Pompeii. I think that the tour was very worthwhile because it provided a lot of information that you may not gain on your own.

By booking the tour guide it gives you an advantage as there are different entrances for tour's. Natalina was an excellent guide, her knowledge of all the Roman history is awesome and very very informative, please do the guided tours, walking round without a tour guide is a no no unless you know your Roman history.

1. Get there one hour early beacause if you get lost , you can ask other tour group and direct you to the excact place. 2. Going there without the tour guide is a waste of time beacause looking the old stone bouliding means nothing without the historical fact.
