You meet at a local cafe and someone walks you through the queues then you join a tour. Guide was knowledgeable and interesting.

We enjoyed learning about the history of the Vatican by an expert and appreciated being shown the main places.

Tourguide was knowledgeable, however the microphone was poor quality so the headphones gave low quality feedback throughout the tour.

Great way to see and learn alot in a relatively small amount of time. Just enough so you were not bored! We had 2 teenagers so this was improtant. The guides english was immpecable.

All the information and details that the guide provides. If you go by yourself you will just look at rocks and monuments without learning anything about them.

Our guide was very knowledgeable and handled all questions well. She obviously knows her subject matter well and is genuinely enthusiastic about it. It was amazing to see the Colisseum in real life after seeing it depicted in so many movies and shows.

Our guide was an archeologist so was fascinating and well informed. Veing to ask questions as well as listening to facts was awesome.

Our tour guide was amazing. She knew so much about the history of the Vatican. She was also very considerate of us, she made sure she stopped at many stops with shade when we were outside. I took this tour during the summer, and breaks with shade were essential.

Our tour guide, whose name I wrote down and now lost, was extrordianry! He was an archiologist who had worked at a dig site there years ago. Older. Grey hair. He was so informative, funny, and attentive.

The guide was well versed on the history of all the sites we saw and was happy to answer any questions we had. He allowed us time to take photos and also had visual aids to help when explaining the history of the sites.

I would definitely recommend a guided tour, although this meant we quickly went though a couple of areas we would have liked to have viewed for longer, it was more than made up for by the knowledge of our guide and the big reduction in queuing time.

Totally awesome, out guide Emi was just amazing and so informative. One of the best holiday experiences ever . Learning about what the Romans did for us, and how they did it. Extremely skillful engineers. A must see and do. You will not regret doing this!

Having a guide is essential to getting through the crowds and seeing the places you most want to see.

Elle, our guide, took her time with us and ensured we could see and hear despite the crowds. She was excellent! She used humor, stories, and history to teach us about the Vatican museum contents, the Sistine Chapel, and even just before we entered St. Peter's.

Vincenzo made sure we knew exactly where we were going, clearly told us what we needed to do at each step, and what to notice. We knew we were well taken care of, and in very capable hands.

Very at keeping the group together and giving over the information considering how busy it was. She did a very good job.

It was well worth to book the experience with to see the underground and arena. If you are considering THE highlight of your trip- this is it! Worth every penny

Seeing the different parts of the Colisseum gave us a complete picture of the famility and how it worked. Much better in 3-D and in person.

Being on the arena floor gave a great perspective of the Colluseum and good views of the underground area.

What a place. Your imagination runs riot. Would love to come back for a tour right underground where the animals were kept.

Accessing the arena floor is a must and worth doing. Not sure worth doing the underground areas as costs more, but not sure needed (didn't do it).

The Colosseum's Arena was stunning ��. It was slightly crowded but still acceptable. I didn't get the chance to visit the underground, as the ticket was extremely difficult to purchase.

It was a much more in-depth visit than our last vis 10 years ago so was great to get a more knowledgable being-the-scenes view. As mentioned before, the archeologist tour guide made the trip worthwhile for us.

Look into tours of the sites you want to visit to make sure that you experience everything you can. Guided tours are well worth the cost since they provide a smooth, coordinated visit along with a knowledgeable person who can answers questions.

Anyone of the older generation should perhaps give it a miss but this would be a major shame as like us we are very fit for our ages. Maybe give the tour an extra half hour, then no rush would be necessary.

We were the first tour in the morning meeting at 8:15 before it was too crowded. I'd heartily recommend. We visited in December so dress up warm lots of shady places that can be chilly.

Arrive with enough time, don't expect to be able to go to the gift shop in the Colosseum as there isn't enough time in the tour!

Rome is a walkable city so don't waste your money on a Rome bus card, you can just pay with your phone when you actually use public transport. Every sight is at 20 min walk away from one another so bring your most comfortable shoes. Be ware of pickpockets when waiting in line for something

Wear very good walking shoes. Wear or bring a hat and sunglasses. We brought snacks and water flasks to stay hydrated and mangage protien/glucose intake throughout the day. The website said 1.5 hours to 3 hours. It was a 7 hour day and 0ver 15,000 steps! We loved every minute but I imagine it could be hard on those not in as good as physical shape or with mobility difficulties.

Most buses will drop you outside the Colosseum, but please check before travelling out.... Good pair of Boots, Plenty of water and lightweight bag for your I.D. (you will need it to get in).

If you're not in walking distance as we were, use the Metro, we used it for a later trip and it was so easy to use and navigate. Be prepared for the crowds and noise, it can be a little overwhelming if you don't really like that, but it does calm down once inside.

We were tempted by the glass lift in the Vittoriano and spent ages finding it only to find you can buy a ticket just for the lift. You have to buy a ticket for the museum as well. I wish now that we had spent more time in the Forum but nothing you see in Rome is wasted. We will just have to visit again!

Tour takes 2.5-3 hours. Go with a guide as the experience and knowledge gained is worth the fee and more. Also get access to the arena floor and upper floor as well as. Tour of the forum. Just amazing. There is quite a bit of walking and stair climbing (lift available).

I would say to make sure you have some water on you and and put lots of sun cream on as the location depending on what time of day it is. It gets very hot and lots of walking involved.

Try not to carry too many stuff with you, as most of the attractions are very crowded. Arrive at the meeting point/ attractions 20- 30 mins ahead even though you have the admission tickets in hand, as you still have to line up to get into the place.

We walked from our accommodation near historical city centre. Buses are close but will need a bus pass.

Buy your ticket online to skip the queues. Maybe choose a time when the Vatican Museums aren't as busy. We went at 3pm and there were so many people there. Get to your meeting point in plenty of time and use their bathroom before going on the tour. Ask your guide to show you the door into St Peter's at the end of the tour. You can spend plenty of time there. We actually happened on a Mass under the Dome at 6pm, beautiful music, very special.

The Roman Forum and Colosseum were both busy but it was a Friday afternoon so I guess to be expected. The purchasing of the tickets in advance proved to be a wise decision as there were a few queues which we didn't have to join.

Don't get anything to eat near Colosseum- it's all overpriced garbage except for Flor- Gelato. Phenomenal gelato for only 3 euro. Recommend the Marscapone and Fig. Maria was a great tour guide. Extremely knowledgeable and truly passionate about her subject matter.

Arrive earlier than suggested as there were crowds of other tour customers and it wasn't clear who we were supposed to check-in with. Be sure to bring some photo ID with you. You will not be allowed in otherwise. Bring a bottle of water. The tour is long and you can refill your bottle at the many fountains along the way. Go to the toilet beforehand. The queue for them inside were about 35 minutes!

Check the weather and dress appropriately. Don't worry if you forget hats or water - the meeting point is a hot spot for traders. Comfortable shoes -you are on you feet for 3 hours. Several flights of steep stone stairs but don't let this put you off, a lift is available.

Book Lumi ....best guide evere ...so funny , but so knowledgable and bought history of area to life , made it relatable and we learnt such a lot . Loved tour and Lumi made it . Bring a coat Wear comfortable shoes Bring some water .

Bring a raincoat . Loads turned up in tee shirts and when it started to rain they got fleeced by the North Africans selling plastic bags

The main pro of a guided tour is that you are able to skip the long lines but a con is that the experience is not self paced. You will have to be with your guide all the time. Our guide was quite knowledgeable but the whole tour was quited rushed.

Follow directions and try to arrive a couple of minutes before the time expected. There was construction going on and a lot of tourist so moving around can take time

Pay attention to the stops you have to make when using the bus, subway and trains. Give yourself enough time in case you get lost and charge your phone, you could bring a portable battery pack in case.

Although there were queues it was never a problem. More of a problem hearing your guide in certain areas or if they walked to fast

We went around mid-day when it was warm, I would either go early morning or later in the day when it was cooler. Easy to find the meeting point, would recommend a tour as you get so much detail of the history of Rom and the Colesseum from this.

We stayed within a KM of the Colloseum, made be walk to the location prior to the tour to understand where you need to be. Give your self time as your trying to follow Google Maps on a phone can lead you in circles.

Plan in advance and don't go the last tour, as you will spend only a short time in the Colleseum. Be prepared for lots of people

Wear comfy, flat shoes since the flooring is very wonky! Early in the day when it's cooler. Having a guide to explain info was great

Definitely do the visit with a guide, there's so much info that we learned throughout the day. Fabrizio was fantastic.

Its well worth booking a tour as the lines to get in are crazy. Having this tour we were able to go to a different entrance and exit. Saved so much time and the guide was very knowledgeable

Take this guided tour, the guides hold a passionate and strong knowledge about the History surrounding Ancient Rome, very strongly recommend

Be prepared for lots of people. It's a zoo. Bring a portable fan, it gets hot. Bathrooms are hard to find.

The meeting place at Headout offices are a little away from the Vatican Don't sit to have lunch before your tour - eating in Italy is a leisurely experience and we waited ages for our meal then had to run to get to the group

Morning tours are better, lots of people are always there. When finish vatican, we got out just on the front of the St Peter Basilica. No que, all good to go in.

Walking around ancient historic sites is never easy, if anyone has any kind of mild diability, and many visitors are not youthful, so a good descriptor of the tour would be good.

Was some construction and renovations going on and some roads were closed or diverted so check road conditions first. It also rained extremely hard during our visit even though it wasn't supposed to so be prepared for adverse weather events which can affect the tour.

The meeting place wasn't easy to find! Most people want the Sistine Chapel, I would start with that!

Rome has a very long peak touristic season so book attractions well in advance. Bring good walking shoes, refillable water container, a hat or umbrella (the sun & temperatures are intense)and photo identification.

Don't drink water from the fountains. My husband did and got sick. Be punctual. Enjoy every aspect and respect

Plan ahead and book a tour before you go on holiday to get best price and availability. Definitely book a skip the line tour otherwise you will wait for hours to get into the basilica.

Found Rome to be quite easy to find my way around, just pay attention to the signs and ask your hotel for assistance

Make sure to use the app first to purchase your tickets. Plan to get to your meeting spot or destination at least 30 minutes before. So leave early! When we were in Rome we encountered a city bus transit strike. Found out 24 hours in advance and a kind front desk person at the coliseum hotel gave us detailed walking instructions to Vatican city. Even though you may not encounter the same situation, just give yourself enough time for minor delays.
