Our tour guide Celeste was adorable, entertaining and told us lots of interesting information and fun facts about the great food. An all-round successful evening, thank you for that. I have rarely indulged in gluttony with such pleasure, but the food was also simply delicious.

We very much enjoyed Anna's tour. She was very knowledgeable. And........... when I told her I did not like cheese you could immediately see her thinking about how to cope with that bomb shell. And then she made it into something to joke about when, in the cheese tasting part, two of the other members of our group didn't eat there cheese either! She rang ahead to each eatery and asked if they could accommodate me and they did which shows how much they value her. Thank you Anna

The marketing for the event was a total scam. We had limited time in Rome and wasted it on this event. The food was terrible, the boat was old, and the river is unsightly. It was sold to me as a tour. Not one word was said about anything. The hostess was very nice. I give this a minus 0.

START POINT

Central Rome

Cooking in the heart of the Eternal City? The location makes it incredibly convenient — ideal for travelers wanting to squeeze a hands-on activity into a packed day of sightseeing. Plus, many classes include market tours in iconic spots like Trastevere, giving you insight into local ingredients and Roman culinary traditions. It’s intimate, authentic, and unforgettable — a delicious way to connect with Italy through its flavors.

Note: The cooking studio and how your class unfolds varies slightly based on the starting point you choose.

Walk

1

Option 1: Antica Caffetteria Berti, Trastevere

180 min

2 activities

This charming, bohemian neighborhood offers a more local, authentic vibe — far from the tourist crowds. At the San Cosimato market, you'll shop alongside Romans, picking out fresh, seasonal ingredients guided by a local chef who knows the best vendors.

Note: Your experience begins at Antica Caffetteria Berti in Trastevere

Things to do

1. Introduction

Included in price

Say 'Buon Giorno' to your local chef guide and wave hello to your cohort before you begin this exciting masterclass filled with tasty treats, a market visit, and a hands-on cooking experience.

2. Local market visit

Included in price

Nestled in the heart of Trastevere, this neighborhood market hums with the local chatter, fresh produce, and the rich aromas of herbs, cheeses, and cured meats. You’ll bite into crispy, gooey supplì, the beloved Roman rice ball, and savor porchetta, seasoned to perfection.

3. Ravioli

Food & Drinks

Included in price

You'll roll out fresh pasta, fill it with creamy ricotta, and fold each pocket with care. As the ravioli cook, you’ll prepare a classic sauce — butter gently infused with fresh sage.

4. Fettucine

Food & Drinks

Included in price

You’ll knead, roll, and cut the silky ribbons of this pasta yourself. The best part? Making the sauce of the season. In spring or summer, you might stir up a fragrant tomato and basil sauce with sun-ripened pomodori. Cooler months call for bold Roman flavors like cacio e pepe, creamy and peppery, or amatriciana, with crispy guanciale and rich tomato.

5. Drinks

Drinks

Included in price

Throughout your meal, enjoy endless refills of the beverage of your choice, whether it's wine or soft drinks. Here, glasses never stop clinking, and spirits are always high.

6. Enjoy your sit-down meal

Food & Drinks

Included in price

Now that you're finished with the market visit and the live cooking class, it's time for the best part: savoring the fruits of your labor. Ditch the apron in favor of your plate, and dig into a warm, soulful meal made just by you.

7. Gelato tasting

Food & Drinks

Included in price

Some might say this is the best part! Follow your guide to a gelateria where you get to sample organic gelato, which is churned slowly and incorporates less air, resulting in a denser, creamier texture. By the end of this tasting session, you'll be equipped to pick out real gelato from a tourist trap!

2

Option 2: Near Piazza Venezia

Taking a cooking class near Piazza Venezia puts you right in the heart of Rome’s historic center — a perfect mix of convenience and atmosphere. After exploring nearby icons like the Colosseum or the Trevi Fountain, you’re just steps away from a hands-on culinary experience. In a charming kitchen tucked behind grand monuments, you’ll learn to craft Roman classics like the pasta you're just about to make.

2. Pasta
