The ideal time to visit the catacombs of Rome is during the low season (September to November). During this time, there is a drop in temperature, and catacombs witness lesser footfall. Hence, plan your visit during this time for lesser crowds and a more immersive experience.
If you prefer a quieter and less crowded experience, visiting on a weekday (Monday to Friday) would be a good choice. This is recommended especially in the peak seasons (April to June) when Rome is swarmed by tourists.
