We arrived at the Pantheon at 8.45 to 3 queues forming. 1st queue cash only, 2nd, tickets bought online and the 3rd queue, card payments. We was very close to the front of the 2nd queue and managed to walk into the pantheon with only a handful of people inside. Queues went down quickly. Absolutely stunning building. 100% worth the visit.

It is unfortunate that the government started charging to view the incredible Basilica of St. Mary and the Martyrs. There should never be a mandatory fee to enter a house of worship. That being said, Headout made it very easy to get tickets for my family. We just walked straight to the guards scanning the tickets and went in. It is also unfortunate that the dress code was not enforced as this is a Church and not a museum.

Enter the rotunda and look up at the oculus, a perfect circle of open sky that floods the space with natural light.

Visit Raphael’s tomb

Pause at the resting place of the Renaissance master, surrounded by frescoes and marble chapels.

Hear stories of ancient Rome

Guided and audio tours explain how Roman engineers built the world’s largest unreinforced dome nearly 2,000 years ago.

Things to know before booking tickets to Pantheon Rome

  • Booking window: Tickets open on a rolling basis and sell out 2–3 days in advance on weekends and holidays. On-site purchases are possible but queues can stretch up to an hour. To skip the wait, pre-book online for timed fast-track or hosted entry.
  • What’s included: All tickets grant access to the Pantheon’s main interior, including the dome, oculus, and tombs of Raphael and Italian kings. General admission ($5) covers standard entry; upgraded options add audio or live-guided tours.
  • Entrances & flow: Entry is via Piazza della Rotonda, where three lines form: pre-booked, on-site card, and on-site cash. Fast-track tickets skip the purchase line but not the 10–15 min security check. Hosted entry is the fastest option, your host meets you with pre-validated tickets and assists you through entry.
  • Self-guided vs guided visits: Opt for audio tours in 8 languages or guided visits in English, Italian, French, or Spanish. Small-group tours (≤12–15 guests) provide deeper insight and calmer pacing.
  • Combos & add-ons: Save with bundles including Castel Sant’Angelo, Colosseum + Forum, or a Hop-On Hop-Off Bus for all-day sightseeing.
  • Policies: Tickets are single-entry, name-based, and time-specific. Free cancellation (24–72 h) applies per ticket type. Discounts apply for EU residents aged 18–25; under-18s and Rome residents enter free, but must still reserve a slot.

  • Try the “whisper test” beneath the oculus, the acoustics carry even a soft voice across the rotunda.
  • Photography is allowed, but no flash, tripods, or drones.
  • Maintain silence during religious services and avoid touching the marble surfaces or tombs.
  • Modest dress is expected inside this consecrated basilica — shoulders and knees covered.
  • For the best photos, capture the Fontana del Pantheon with the dome in the background, then unwind at a café in Piazza della Rotonda, a perfect post-visit spot.
